Faith Formation is on the Move!

Faith Formation Classes are moving to Sunday!
We are excited to announce some changes coming to Faith Formation this fall! Starting on Sunday, September 7th, Faith Formation programs for PreK-12th grade students will be held on Sunday mornings from 9:30 AM to 10:50 AM. We hope that these changes will prove beneficial for our parish families and enable Faith Formation to be offered at a time that is most accessible for parents, students, and catechists. To help make the transition as smooth as possible, there are some logistical details listed below.
- Mass times will be changing from 9 AM and 11 AM to 8:30 AM and 11 AM. This change will allow us to hold our Faith Formation classes in between Sunday Masses, which reflects the feedback that we received on our survey of Elementary Faith Formation families this year.
- PreK-12th grade Faith Formation will start at 9:30 AM and end at 10:50 AM on Sundays. We will be running all grades during the same time to increase participation in families that have students in various age groups.
- After registering your child(ren), you will be prompted to sign up for a meeting time with Katrina Curtis, the Director of Faith Formation, and/or Elyse Winter, the Middle School Youth Minister. At this meeting, Katrina and Elyse will cover basic expectations, share the Faith Formation Family Agreement for you to sign, and answer any questions you may have. These pre-meetings are required before your child(ren)/teen(s) can attend in the fall.
- We are always looking for more volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering, please visit our parish website to fill out the interest form or email Katrina Curtis at ffdirector@slstm.org.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to Katrina Curtis at ffdirector@slstm.org.

What are the new Faith Formation times?
Faith Formation is moving to Sunday mornings from 9:30 AM -10:50 AM starting September 7th.
What grades is this for?
We will be holding Faith Formation classes for PreK-12th grade students.
**please note HS details will be coming soon.
What are the age group breakdowns?
Elementary = PreK-4th Grade
Middle School = 5th-8th Grade
High School = 9th-12th Grade
Where is drop off/pickup?
Parents can walk their elementary children (grades PreK-4) down the hallway by the South canopy doors, past the restrooms, and into the school. There, a Faith Formation staff member or volunteer will help sign you in and direct your child to the correct classroom. Middle and high school-aged students are welcome to walk themselves down to the lower level, where signage will direct them to the correct rooms. Parents will pick up their elementary children back in the school, while middle and high school students can meet their parents in the gathering space for pickup.
What curriculum will you be using?
Our PreK students participate in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. This program is for 3 & 4 year olds (all students must be completely potty trained). Our K-8th grade students use the Word of Life curriculum from the Augustine Institute. Details for the high school program are still being developed, but there is one guarantee…no textbooks in high school youth ministry!
What if I go to Mass on Saturday evening?
Faith Formation classes are going to be held on Sunday mornings for all grade levels, and we invite you to come back in the morning for programming.
What should parents do while children are in Faith Formation classes?
Parents are encouraged to socialize with our parish community on the weekends that we have coffee and donuts. We are also working on some adult Faith Formation options to run concurrently, so stay tuned for more details!
How do I sign my student up?
Registration for PreK-8th grade can be found on our parish website. Please note that space in the PreK program is extremely limited. Registration for all programs will close Saturday, August 23rd.
